In the field of cryogenic liquid storage, cryogenic tanks play a crucial role. However, during use, the tanks sometimes exhibit phenomena such as "sweating" or "frosting", which not only affect the insulation effect of the tanks but may also pose safety hazards. Today, Xinxiang Chengde will explain how to deal with the issues of "sweating" and "frosting" in cryogenic tanks.

1. Reasons for "sweating" and "frosting" of low-temperature storage tanks

1. Reduced vacuum degree:

● Perlite outgassing: During the filling process of perlite, if the particle size and temperature are not suitable, water vapor will be released after a period of operation, resulting in a decrease in vacuum degree and an increase in evaporation rate.

● Leakage in the interlayer pipeline: Leakage in the pipeline of the storage tank interlayer, insufficient filling of perlite, or other reasons can lead to damage to the interlayer vacuum degree, resulting in "sweating" and "frosting".

2. Reduced thermal insulation effect:

● Subsidence of pearlite: After prolonged use, pearlite settles, creating a void at the top of the container, leading to a significant reduction in insulation effect. This results in heat loss from the container, manifesting as "sweating".

3. Abnormal pressure:

● Pressure rise in the inner cylinder: Damage to the vacuum degree in the interlayer of the storage tank, malfunction of the pressure boost valve in the inner cylinder, or leakage at the lower part of the interface may all lead to an abnormal pressure rise in the inner cylinder of the storage tank, causing the safety valve to trip.

II. How to deal with the aforementioned problems?

1. Inspection and repair:

● Check the exhaust port: Regularly inspect the shell and vacuum exhaust port of the cryogenic storage tank to ensure that there are no dents or damages.

● Interlayer leakage detection: When "sweating" and "frosting" are observed, it is necessary to check whether there is a leak in the interlayer pipeline and repair it promptly.

● Adding pearlite: If the "sweating" is caused by the sinking of pearlite, a hole can be dug at the top of the outer cylinder of the jacket to add more pearlite.

2. Regular inspection and maintenance:

● Calibration of pressure gauge and safety valve: Pressure gauges, safety valves, and other devices should be calibrated or replaced at least once a year.

● Evaporation rate detection: Regularly detect the evaporation rate of low-temperature storage tanks. If it exceeds the factory specifications by 3 times or more, a comprehensive inspection must be conducted to determine the cause of the malfunction and repair it in a timely manner.

● Vacuum degree inspection: If conditions permit, the vacuum degree of the interlayer can be checked. If the vacuum degree drops below 15Pa, measures should be taken to re-evacuate.

The issues of "sweating" and "frosting" in cryogenic storage tanks cannot be ignored, and timely inspection and repair are crucial to ensuring the normal operation of the tanks.
